writing assignment 2

When I considered my long-term vision and short-term objectives, I could not imagine and decide my future, ultimate goal of life. Then, I would like to consider about my baseball club.

Long-term vision

At present, ICU baseball club affliates to "New Tokyo college league" and our team long-term vision is promotion to 2A. This goal is very magnificiant and easy to imagine, and we practice everyday to achieve this long-term goal. This big goal motivate us but, at the same time, generate the difference of cognition about long-term vision.

It is true that "promotion to 2A" is good goal but this goal is ambiguous. Therefore, each person understand the meaning of "promotion to 2A" each way of thinking. These different point of view causing the gap of member. For example, the difference of commitment to the club. Some people thinking about club activity is the first priority of campus life, Other people thinking that club activity is just the one-part of campus life. This difference of passion to promotion will appear in the various approaches to the long-term goal, which in turn cause the discord of team.

Short-term objectives

To solve this gap of cognition, short-term objectives are effective. In our case, short-term objectives are different depends on position or the batting order of player. For example, 1st batter need to increase the on-base percentage and catcher analyze the game calmly. If each player fulfill the each short-term objectives, we could win the game and finally we can achieve our long-term goal. Long-term vision is pile of short-term objectives.

Deciding long-term vision is very important. When we decide the long-term goal, being ambiguous is not so good. Therefore, short-term objective is important to fill in the gap of difference of cognition. That is because short-term objectives are very clear and easy to think of process to achivement. However, if we only have short-term objectives, our motivation will disappear. we need two types of goal to motivate ourselves continuously.

In short, Long term goal and short-term objectives is interdepending.
